Turns out the sticky gooey substance you drizzle on your toast has an amazing amount of surprising benefits for your skin. I’m not kidding, this stuff is about to be life changing for your beautiful face.
After using honey for a week, my skin was soft and plump, my breakouts were under control, and my complexion genuinely looked brighter.
Winding up with results like these became the catalyst for starting Srsly Honey. I had so much frustration with natural products not meeting my expectations that discovering my own version of liquid gold was a huge sigh of relief.
I can honestly say that after using my mask for quite a while now, my acne scars have reduced significantly in appearance, which I'm definitely putting down to the powers of honey.
Don't get me wrong, there are some amazing natural products out there, but what I really needed, was an all natural product that was multi purpose and managed my breakouts, oily skin (srsly, my makeup melts off like candle wax) and stopped my bank account from going as far down as Chris Hemsworth in my dreams.
I’m just one of those people who is so prone to breakouts, I have been since I was a teenager, and it’s always made me self conscious. Sure, as I got older the volcano calmed down a little, but I have to be conscious of my diet, water intake and make sure i don’t clog my pores by wearing makeup for long periods of time.
On top of all of that, I’m human and I’m no where near perfect, so I struggle to care about all of those things week in week out. Finding honey as a cheap, effective way to treat not just one, but many of my most annoying skin issues was my saving grace for both time and money. It made me question how many porudcts we really need in our skincare routine. I've learned that keeping it simple certainly isn't a bad thing. Find 1 to 3 key natural products that balance your skin and you can save time and money whilst consistently maintaining healthy, glowing skin.
Honey, just try it.
Ditch your usual skincare routine and try the 1 week honey challenge
Ok just to be clear, I'm not talking about the squeezy tube in the shape of a bear you pick up in the super market, you need the real stuff. Raw Organic Honey.
Here's a couple of my favourites that you can find online or in health stores:
- Run your hands under the tap, then pat your face so it’s slightly damp, don’t splash water on it or it won’t stick.
- Lather on your raw organic honey and massage it into your skin.
- Rinse off and repeat the process again. It’s important to double cleanse so that you make sure you get rid of any stubborn makeup or dirt. Or before cleansing, remove your makeup with a face wipe or micellar water.
It’s best to exfoliate around twice a week, once if your skin is extra sensitive. Make sure you space it out, I like to do Tuesday and Friday to allow enough time in between for a good buff.
- Dampen your face as per the previous instructions
- Mix half a teaspoon of cinnamon or coffee grounds with the raw organic honey. If you have sensitive skin, patch test the cinnamon, it’s quite potent and some people can react to it.
- Apply to your face and gently massage into your skin for 2 minutes
- Rinse off and moisturize
There you have it, a very simple, cost effective substitute for maintaining healthy glowing skin. Srsly though, I want to hear your feedback on how your honey challenge goes, so make sure you tag us on social media and write to us about your experience. We love doing feature pieces on our friends!
